寡婦Sammi家財豐厚，但卻有很多缺點。她酗酒、抽煙，外加尖酸刻薄，講大話更是她的擅長，身為公司的董事，卻疏於工作，常常詐病不上班。Sammi的出身並不算好，之所以家財萬貫全賴幸運遇到一個英俊、博學又很有錢的完美男人。兩人拍拖不久便閃電式結婚，但丈夫卻在婚後不久便去世。Sammi繼承了丈夫的大筆遺產，因此成了一個有錢的寡婦。別人都說Sammi好命，但她卻說自己與丈夫相處時間短沒有深情。
這天，Sammi又隨口以自己右眼視網膜脫落為借口向公司請假，「病假」結束後她以紗布敷住右眼上班。但在路上她卻遇到有人跳樓自殺，Sammi從此開始有了左眼能看到鬼的異能。各路遊魂野鬼得知她有這一功能後，紛紛找上門來請她幫忙實現未了心願。這些鬼中以青雲的事情最多最為惹人厭，但相處多日後Sammi竟對他產生了好感。
一日，Sammi突發奇想，要青雲幫他尋找陰間的丈夫，但青雲卻沒有找到，Sammi因此責怪丈夫不單狠心地丟下自己，還無牽無掛地早早投胎，而青雲則踢破Sammi其實一直愛著自己的丈夫，是因為失去丈夫才使得她自暴自棄養成這么多惡習。Sammi決定重新做人，卻發現自己的視網膜真的脫落了。手術後，她再也無法見到鬼。從頭開始的Sammi再見不到青雲，卻發現家中有很多青雲留下的痕跡，一切仿似當年結婚時的樣子，原來青雲就是她丈夫的化身。

年輕有為的美國駐羅馬大使羅伯特·索恩，將要和妻子凱茜擁有家庭的第一個孩子。然而嬰兒剛哇哇墜地就不幸夭折，因為孩子的死亡而痛不欲生的羅伯特，不想再讓流產過兩次的凱茜受到重創而崩潰，在一名神父的勸導下，他決定收養另一個當晚出生、且父母雙亡的小孩，向凱茜隱瞞調換嬰兒的消息。
取名為達米安的兒子，被羅伯特當成了自己的骨血撫養，而毫不知情的凱茜更是寵愛他。之後不久，羅伯特的事業也飛黃騰達，被任命為駐英大使的他，舉家搬往了倫敦，生活寧靜舒適，一切似乎是最好的選擇。然而，達米安5歲生日的那天，在慶祝的派對上，保姆卻當著所有客人的面上吊身亡，從此，惡魔的血門被打開--奇怪的牧師帶來了恐怖的警告，孩子們去動物園游覽卻變成了恐慌的暴亂，被帶到教堂的達米安徹底歇斯底里，凱茜被恐怖夢魘縈繞，一系列讓人膽寒的死亡接連發生！

預言清晰可辨、凶兆即將揭曉，06年6月6日，這個象徵著撒旦的666匯集的日子，也將迎來出生在6月6日6時、頭頂有著象徵撒旦的666記號的嬰兒的復仇。重拍自1976年的同名經典恐怖片，30年之後再次輪回的「凶兆」將繼續開啟毀滅的邪惡之眼，新天魔即將出世，世界末日即將來臨。雖不知撒旦會不會再次寫下三部曲，但導演約翰·摩爾卻絲毫不敢放鬆地繼續《大敵當前》。這個輪回之日，信耶穌者面臨「死亡」！
身為70年代經典恐怖片之一，由格里高利·派克主演的老版《凶兆》，延續了《驅魔人》系列的惡魔重生潮流，在白宮危機和石油價格飆升帶來不信任與恐慌的當年，獨到的背景氣氛讓黑發的撒旦之子一舉成為「惡魔小孩」中的統領，直到如今，影片的崇拜地位依舊不減當年。雖然重拍經典的壓力頗大，但湊齊了666上映日期的新千年天魔，再度揭曉魂飛魄散的凶兆，也足夠讓人屏住呼吸！
◇點評：預言般的冷冽和宿命感重現
宗教虔誠者談之色變的「666現象」正在流行--聖經《啟示錄》中的666預言，最後審判的存在，40%的美國人相信世界末日的逼近和邪惡力量的強大，恐怖襲擊、自然災難帶來的恐慌讓不少人覺得凶兆已然無所不在。如果《凶兆》一定要重拍，這個新千年的首次666日期的確是最好時機。
雖然重拍經典影片的導演總是面對吃力不討好的窘境--忠實原作、照搬不誤會被扣上沒創意的帽子，改改添添加入新鮮玩意的死亡效果更加明顯，好在擅長調度火爆動作場面的導演摩爾這次沒再炫耀自己晃動鏡頭和快速剪輯的「才幹」。劇情構架比原作精細不少的新《凶兆》，成功保持了層層推進預言般的冷冽和宿命感。

劇情介紹
