「十大微電影」一詞已成為網友們對一個微電影作品火爆程度的最大肯定。每年的評選和獲獎公布，已成為當年中國微電影行業的盛事，其權威性、客觀性和獨特的包容性已不容置疑，儼然已成為中國網民心目中的「奧斯卡獎」。
自2011年創辦以來，每年集優秀微電影作品於一堂，為網民們提供了一場豐富的視覺盛宴。
獎項評選標准由三部分組成，分別為：1、互聯網傳播率；2、網民投票率；3、評選組委會意見。
